388 free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before R I Cowman Recorded the 22d day of December 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Ann Boone of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations as also in further consideration of the sum of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Harry Barnes being of the age of thirty eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Harry Barnes I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty eighth day of December eighteen hundred & twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Anne Boone (Seal) Gideon White W.m Brown of Ben On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received the day of the date of the within Instrument of writing the consideration money therein mentioned Witness Gideon White Ann Boone Anne Arundel County to wit On this twenty eighth day of December eighteen hundred and twenty Seven personally appeared Ann Boone party to the within (Instrument) |
