387 Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Ned being of the age of twenty one years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Ned I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Jn.o W Duvall (Seal) W.m Harwood J J. Cowman At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness R I. Cowman Jno W Duvall (Seal) Anne Arundel County to wit On this twenty second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven personally appears Jn.o W Duvall party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the county aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or any claiming under him and to be (free) |
