385 twenty five years and females at the age of twenty three In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Mordecai Gosnell (Seal) Jn.o Claytor On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this third day of September 1827 personally appears Mordecai Gosnell before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the within instrument writing to be his act and deed and for the purposes therein mentioned Chd Acknowledged before Jno Claytor 2¾ Recorded the 20th day of October 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel Bradford of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving as also the further sum of twenty dollars to me in hand paid the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and set free the following negroes to wit my negro man named Neno aged thirty four years to be free in ten years from this date he being thirty four years of age one negro woman named Cave aged eighteen years to be free in eighteen years from the date hereof and all her increase from this date to be free at the age of thirty years and their increase forever Lydia aged three years to be free at the age of thirty years (and) |
