384 day of September eighteen hundred and twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of interlined Thomas James Stockett (Seal) in the 20 & 21 line Gideon White John T Barber At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Ann Arundell County sct On the 20th day of September 1827 appeared Thomas James Stockett before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the county aforesaid acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d d.d Gideon White Chd 3½ Recorded the 3d day of October 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Mordecai Gosnell of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid do hereby free manumit and enfranchise negro boy James born the eighth day of August last to be free at the age of twenty five years and whereas negro woman Charity mother of the above named boy James was heretofore manumitted after a term of years not yet expired by my wife Hester before my marriage with her without any provision for the liberation of the increase of the said woman Charity now I do hereby free manumit and enfranchise all the future increase of her the said Charity Males at the age of (twenty) |
