373 On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this 10th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and and twenty seven personally appears Lucy Harwood party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the county aforesaid and acknowledges the within deed or instrument of writing to be her act and deed and the negroes therein named to be free and manumitted according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Chd Acknowledged before R I. Cowman 2¾ Recorded the 11th day of April 1827 Know all men by these presents that I Rachel Snowden of Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do liberate manumit and set free all the following described negroes slaves now my property and in my possession Viz Nace Bacon a negro man aged thirty four Bill Sanders a negro man aged thirty two Becky a negro woman aged forty two Nancy a negro woman aged thirty four Mary Bull a mulatto woman aged twenty seven Louiza Bull a mulatto woman aged twenty two Patsey Bull a mulatto woman aged eighteen years they all being capable of labour sufficient to maintain themselves. And they the said slaves above named I declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service to me my executors and administrators forever and I do further liberate manumit and set free all the following described negroe slaves now my property and in my (possession) |
