me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of
Ten dollars current money to me in hand paid have
released from slavery liberated manumitted and set
free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery
liberate manumit and set free my negro boy Dennis
formerly the property of Thomas Harwood late of the City
of Baltimore deceased and him the said negro boy Dennis
named is above I do declare to be free manumitted and
discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me
my executors or administrators from and after the first
day of January eighteen hundred and forty three   In
Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this thirteenth day of March in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven

       J J. Cowman

At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit
State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On
this thirteenth day of March eighteen hundred and twenty
seven personally appears Henry Hall Harwood party to
the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber
a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the County
aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and
deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro
boy Dennis within named to be from the first day of
January eighteen hundred and forty three free manumitted
and discharged from all services to him or to any
claiming under him and to be free and manumitted
according to the act of assembly in such cases made
