370 To all whom it may concern be it known that I John W Lansdale of anne arundell county and State of Maryland for divers good causes me thereunto moving as also the further sum of one dollar to me in hand paid have release from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my negro man Simon being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro Simon I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude to me my heirs executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal 12th day of March 1827 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Jno W Lansdale (Seal) Gideon White Charles White At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Maryland Anne Arundell County sst On this 12th day of March 1827 appeared the above named John W Lansdale before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the instrument of writing to be his act and according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided paid Gideon White 2¼ Recorded the 12th day of March 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Henry Hall Harwood of the City of Annapolis in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations (me) |
