363 I Catherine Kilty of the City of Annapolis in Arundell County and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also for and in consideration of three hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my negro man named Charles called Charles Stewart being of the age of thirty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said man named Charles I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators or assigns forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Gideon White Catherine Kilty (Seal) Thos J Gassaway At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned three hundred dollars it being the full consideration money above mentioned Catherine Kilty (Seal) Witness Gideon White Ann Arundel County sst On this sixth day of February 1827 appeared Catherine Kilty before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided (paid) Gideon White 3 Recorded the 6th day of January 1827 |
