360 sufficient food and raiment with other necessaries of life I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of us Philip Hammond Hopkins (seal) Benj.n Brown Jr Richard P Snowden On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this fifth day of January eighteen hundred and twenty seven personally appears Philip Hammond Hopkins party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the mulato man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided paid Acknowledged before Benjn Brown Jr 2½ Recorded the 8th day of January 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Thomas W Turner of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one (hundred) |
