359 and state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free my slave woman named Darky being at the age of forty one and her the said slave woman named. I do declare to be hencefourth free manumated and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of January 1827 Witness Rich.d Mayger William Shipley of Rob.t (seal) Nathan Shipley At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this third day of January 1827 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county appears William Shipley of Rob.t and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent purport and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such case made & provided Chd Nathan Shipley 2 Recorded the 8th day of January 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Philip Hammond Hopkins of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland have manumited and set free and by these presents do hereby manumit and set free my mulato man Joseph Sellman being of the age of forty two years of a healthy Constitution sound in mind and body and capable by labour to procure for himself (sufficient) |
