36 have liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free the said negro man named Robert Hall from and after the fourteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen I do declare the said negro man named Robert Hall to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators for ever after the expiration of the time above mentioned In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us Leo.d Scott (seal) Frederick Harwood John W Clagett On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland anne arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this fourteenth day of June 1817 Personally appears Leonard Scott party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the said negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided (Acknow) |
