37 Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Ch.d Frederick Harwood 3¼ Recorded the 14th day of June 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Thomas Anderson of anne arundel County and State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Susan commonly called Sook being thirty one years of age and also her son called Evan two years of age And her the said negro woman Sook and her son Evan I do by these presents declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my heirs Executors or administrators forever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this first day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and seventeen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Thomas Anderson (seal) John Cord, Ellen Hobbs At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit: On the first day of July Eighteen hundred and seventeen personally appeared Thomas Anderson party to the within in above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro woman therein mentioned and her (son) |
