358 Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my negro man named John Mackal being of the age of forty years being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man John Mackal I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and and seal this sixth day of January eighteen hundred and twenty seven Signd Seald and delived in the presence of Joseph Chaney (seal) Gideon White W P. Winchester At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Rec.d 6 Janry 1827 the sum of one dollar the full consideration as above Joseph Chaney Maryland Ann Arundell County ss.t on the sixth day of January 1827 appeared Joseph Chaney before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Chd Gideon White 2½ Recorded the 6th day of January 1827 To all whom it may concern be it known that I William Shipley of Robert of Ann Arundel County (and) |
