357 mulatto man Jacob Matthews which I purchased of Richard Harwood of Thomas and Henry H Harwood administrators of Benjamin Harwood late of the City of Annapolis deceased being about the age of fifty nine years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Jacob Matthews named as above I do declare henceforth to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators from and after the date hereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 28th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six her Signed Sealed & delivered Kitty + Matthews (seal) in the presence of Susan OHara William OHara On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On the 28th day of November eighteen hundred and twenty six personally appears Kitty Matthews otherwise Called Kate Matthews party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the State of Maryland and for the County aforesaid and acknowledge the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the mulatto man named Jacob Matthews within named to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such Cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before William OHara Ch.d 3¼ Recorded the 2d day of December 1826 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Joseph Chaney of Ann Arundel County and State of (mayland) |
