Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum
of five dollars current money it being the full consideration
money within mentioned                        Dennis H Battee
Witness   R I. Cowman

Anne Arundel county to wit   On this twenty eighth day of
November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and twenty six personally appears Dennis H Battee party to
the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a
Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said county
and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the
purposes therein ^within^ mentioned and the negroes therein named
to be free manumitted and discharged from and after the
respective periods therein mentioned from all services to him
or to any claiming under him and to be free after the periods
therein mentioned according to the act of assembly in such cases
made and provided

    To all whom it may concern be it known that I Richard
Cromwell of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland
for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving
as also in further consideration of the sum of five dollars
current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery
liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do
hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free
my negro man named Peter being of the age of thirty six
years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood
and maintenance and him the said negro man named
Peter I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and
discharged from all manner of servitude or service to
me my executors or administrators forever   In testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
