344 At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of two dollars current money being the full consideration money mentioned above his M Brown Timothy + Johnson mark Anne Arundel County to wit On this 15th day of April 1826 personally appears Timothy Johnson party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes within named to be free at the several ages therein mentioned them & their Isue forever to be manumitted according to the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before McLane Brown 3¼ Recorded the 15th day of August 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I William Shipley of Robert of Ann Arundle County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Rachel Baker being of the age of forty three years old and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and then the said negro woman named Rachel Baker I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have Hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of (April) |
