342 Annexed to the aforegoing was the following Deed of manumission to wit Know all men by these presents that I Robert Welch of Ben of the City of Annapolis in the State of Maryland in pursuance and in execution of the authority and Trusts vested and reposed in me by the annexed power of attorney from Nicholas Darnall and Henry Darnall of the City and County of Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania and for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereto moving have liberated manumitted and released from slavery and by these presents do liberate manumit and release from slavery from and after the fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty the following negro slaves now in the service and possession of Claudius F Legrand of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland to wit Sam Jerry Suck Hess Jem Bill Bob Ned Sam Wallace another of the name of Bill John and Charles the said negroes together with the issue of Suck and Hess to be wholly free manumitted and discharged from slavery and from all manner of claim by me and my heirs or of the said Nicholas and Henry Darnall or their heirs or the Heirs of either of them from and after the said fourth day of May eighteen hundred and thirty. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal at the City of Annapolis aforesaid this eighteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six Witness Tho.s H Hall R Welch of Ben (seal) R I.
