339 herein after expressed and declared have and each of them hath bargained sold assigned transferred and set over and by these presents they the said Nicholas Darnall and Henry Darnall do and each of them doth bargain sell assign transfer and set over unto the said Robert Welch of Ben his heirs executors administrators and assigns all and singular the aforesaid twelve last before named Negroe slaves to wit Sam Jerry Suck Hess Jem Bill Bob ^Ned Sam Wallace^ Bill another of that named John and Charles now being upon the said tract of Land called Portland Manor and all their and each of their issue respectively and all the right title Interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them and each of them the said Nicholas Darnall and Henry Darnall either in Law or equity or otherwise howsoever of in and to the said last named twelve negroe slaves and their Issue respectively and in and to their Labour and services respectively To have and to hold all and singular the said twelve slaves namely Sam Jerry Suck Hess Jem Bill Bob Ned Sam Wallace Bill another of that name John and charles and all and singular their children and Issue respectively and their labour and services unto the said Robert Welch of ben his heirs executors administrators and assigns to and for the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Robert Welch of Ben his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever subject nevertheless to the said Contract and agreement made with the said Claudius F Legrand as aforesaid for and concerning the labour and services of the said slaves for and during the aforesaid term of four years In trust however and upon special confidence nevertheless and to the end intent and purpose that he the said Robert Welch of Ben his heirs executors administrators and assigns shall and will without (any) |
