33 Eighteen years In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eighth day of march Eighteen hundred and seventeen his Witness William 1C Mathews (seal) mark The word "seven" in the fifteenth line being first interlined Nich.s Worthington of Thos Jno Chew Thomas ann arundel County sc On this Eighth of march 1817 personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid the within named William Mathews and acknowledged the within deed of manumission to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d Acknowledged before Ch.d Nich.s Worthington of Tho.s 3¼ Recorded the 26th day of march 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Charles Carroll of Carrollton of ann Arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free my negro Girl named Maria now of the age of twenty years when she shall have attained the age of twenty Eight years and thereafter do declare her to be free manumitted and discharged for ever from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and seventeen Ch: Carroll of Carrollton (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence (of) |
