32. march Eighteen hundred and seventeen personally appears Stephen Boone party to the within mentioned instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Ex.d d.d James Hunter 3¼ Recorded the 22d day of march 1817 Know all men by these presents that I William Mathews of ann arundel County and State of maryland do hereby manumit and grant freedom to the following negroes at the several periods of time hereinafter stated and mentioned that is to say I manumit and grant freedom to my negroe woman Kate from and after the day of the date hereof I manumit & grant freedom to my Girl Darky or Dorcas from and after the first of may Eighteen hundred and twenty one I manumit and grant freedom to my boy John or Jonathan from and after the first of may Eighteen hundred and twenty seven and I manumit and grant freedom to my Girl mille or Amelia from and after the first of may Eighteen hundred and twenty Eight and with regard to the issue that may be born of the females above named before the time fixed for the emancipation of the said females I grant and give to the said Issue their freedom in the manner following to the boys as they arrive to the age of twenty one years and to the Girls as they arrive to the age of (Eighteen) |
