326 discharged from all manner of Servitude or service to me my executors or administrators from and after the first day of May eighteen hundred and Twenty seven In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of H H Harwood (seal) Wm S Green R I Cowman On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this seventeenth day of February eighteen hundred and twenty six personally appears Henry H Harwood party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man John Wilks within named to be from the first day of May 1827 free manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before R. I. Cowman Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 17th day of February 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Richard H Battee of Anne Arundel County state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set (free) |
