325 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of S Gambrill Sarah Gambrill (seal) William Gambrill At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Sarah Gambrill (seal) Test S Gambrill Anne Arundel County sct On this 8th December 1825 personally appears Sarah Gambrill party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro within mentioned & named to be thenceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before S Gambrill Ch.d 3¾ Recorded the 10th day of January 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Henry H Harwood of the City of Annapolis in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of Ten dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named John Wilks formerly the property of M.rs Elizabeth Lloyd being about the age of thirty three years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said John Wilks named as above I do declare to be free manumitted and (discharged) |
