324 At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of forty dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Wm Glover Anne Arundel County to wit On this seventh day of January in the year of our Lord 1826 personally appear William Glover and Mary Glover the parties to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the county aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be their act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to them or to any claiming under them and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before R. I. Cowman 3¼ Recorded the 7th day of January 1826 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Sarah Gambrill of ann arundel county in the state of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro called Amos after serving as a slave thirty three years and four months from and after the date of this deed I do declare him to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 8th December 1825 (Signed) |
