312 current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Joshua Black (seal) Anne Arundel County to wit On this sixteenth day of April 1825 personally appears Joshua Black party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purpose within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d acknowledged before Thos Burgess 3 Recorded the 18th day of April 1825 To all to whom it may concern be it known that I James Pryor of anne arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Abraham Jones being of the age of forty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Abraham Jones I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner servitude or service to me my heirs executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one (thousand) |
