311. or any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before Richard H Merriken paid J. P. A. A. County 3½ Recorded the 18th day of April 1825 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Joshua Black of ann arundel county in the State of Maryland for divers good cuses and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of seventy two dollars and fifty cents current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Ann Tommas being of the age of twenty seven also her child Rachel of the age of six years and able to work and gain a suficient livelihood and maintenance and hir the said negro woman and child named Ann Tommas and Rachel I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Joshua Black (seal) Tho.s Burgess Thos Treakle On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of seventy two dollars and fifty cents (current) |
