release from slavery liberate manumitt and set
free the following negroes to wit my negro woman
Jane to be free on the first day of January one thousand
eight hundred and forty Together with all her increase
as they shall respectively arrive at the age after
mentioned to wit the males to be free when they share
arrive at the full age of thirty five years and the
females to be free when they shall arrive at the full
age of thirty years.  Also my negro boy Edward to be
free on the first day of January one thousand eight
hundred and fifty seven and these the said negroes
above named I do declare when they respectively arrive
at the ages or time specified to be free manumitted
and discharged from all manner of servitude or
service to me or any claiming under me forever  In
Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this fourteenth day of April one
thousand eight hundred and twenty five
signed sealed and delivered

    Margaret Merriken

On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit
Anne Arundel county to wit   On the fourteenth day of
April one thousand eight hundred and twenty five
personally appears Mary Ann Mackubin party to the
within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a
Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the county
aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be her act and
Deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes
therein named to be free when they shall respectively
arrive at the times and ages therein specified to be
manumitted and discharged from all services to her
