301 of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do release from slavery manumitt liberate and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following negroes to wit negro girl Maria (daughter of Lydia when she shall arrive at the age of sixteen negro boy Isaac on the first day of January eighteen hundred and forty six negro Harriott on the first day of January eighteen hundred and forty nine negro boy John on the first day of January eighteen hundred and fifty one negro Matilda on the first day of January eighteen hundred and fifty four all of whom at the respective periods above specified being able to procure a sufficient livelihood and maintenance the aforementioned negroes I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged as they respectively arrive at the periods above specified from all manner of servitude or service to me or any claiming under me forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty five her Witness R H Merriken Jemima + Duvall (seal) Eli Duvall mark At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundle County sct On this eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty five personally appears Jemima Duvall party to the above instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the county aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negroes above named at the respective periods above specified to be manumitted and discharged from all manner of service to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act (of) |
