300 me in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivering of the presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents do release from Slavery manumit and set free my mulatto woman Bet being thirty six years of age of a Healthy Constitution sound in mind and body and capable of Labour to procure for herself sufficient food and raiment with other necessarys of life altho the following children of my above named mulatto woman Bet to wit Vachel aged five years peggy aged three years and William aged six months to serve their mother Bet above named untill they arrive at the age of maturity that is to say the boys to serve her until they arrive at the age of twenty one years and the girls until they arrive at the age of sixteen years the issue Peggy to be free In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of January in the year of our Lord 1825 Test Nicholas Dorsey of Lloyd Rachel Snowden (seal) Beale Duvall On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus endorsed to wit On this 6th day of January 1825 before me one of the Justices of the peace for anne arundell County the within named Rachel Snowden and acknowledges the within Instrument writing a manumission to be her act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Ex.d d.d Gerrard H Snowden paid 3 Recorded the 7th day of January 1825 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Jemima Duvall of anne arundel County in the State (of) |
