290. and acknowledges the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the said negroes within named and their increas to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services from and after the time specified to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before Lewis Sutton Chd 4¾ Recorded the 6th day of August 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Samuel Wood of anne arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving do and will release from slavery liberate manumit and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Polly now residing with Joseph Chaney being of the age of Eighteen years and also her children the male at twenty four and the female at twenty one years Polly is healthy and sound able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood to be free from and after the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty two and she the said negro woman named Polly I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged (together with her Children from and after the time above mentioned) from all manner of service to me my executors or assigns forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four signed sealed and delivered in the presents of Witness Samuel Wood (seal) Geo Simmons Lewis Sutton On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit |
