288 or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Gerard Hobbs (seal) Nathan Shipley Henry Whalen At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this sixth day of July 1824 personally appears Gerard Hobbs party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned & the negro woman and her child Leathy within named to be henceforth manumitted discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free & manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Chd acknowledged before Nathan Shipley 3 Recorded the 31st day of July 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Sarah Norris of anne arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have and will release from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negroes to wit James Dennis aged twenty two years to be free the 5th day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven mariah aged twenty years to be free the 13th day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine John aged Eighteen years to be free the first day of August one (thousand) |
