287 June next of a healthy constitution sound in mind and body and capable by labour to procure to himself sufficient food and raiment with other requisite necessaries of life In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of April 1824 signed sealed and delivered Nichs D Warfield of Bela (seal) in the presence of Edward Warfield Seth Warfield Junior At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this tenth day of April 1824 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared Nich.s D Warfield of Bela and acknowledged the above Deed or instrument of writing to be his act and Deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such Cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before Edward Warfield paid 2¼ Recorded the 10th day of June 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Gerard Hobbs of Ann Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named mary being of the age of thirty years and also her child named Leathy being of the age of two years she the said mary being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance for herself and Child Leathy and her the said negro woman mary & child named Leathy I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors (or) |
