281 assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d acknowledged before Rich.d G Watkins Chd 4 Recorded the 5th day of April 1824 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Henry Hoopper of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Charity Brown about the age of Twenty seven years also my negro man named Ezekiel Hoopper being about the age of Twenty one years as also my negro boy named Robert Matthews aged about eighteen years they being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance the said negroes named Charity Ezekiel and Robert I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this 6th day of April Eighteen hundred and Twenty four signed sealed and delivered his in the presence of Henry + Hoopper (seal) Abner Linthicum mark R I Cowman At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered that on this 6th day of April 1824 personally appears Henry Hoopper party to the within instrument of writing before (me) |
