279 At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of Ten Dollars Current money it being the full Consideration money within mentioned Sam T Hopkins (seal) Anne Arundel County to wit On this Twenty Sixth day of March personally appears Samuel S Hopkins party to the within Instrument of writing before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negroes within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in Such Cases made and provided Chd acknowledged before Caleb White 3½ Recorded the 27 day of March 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Dennis H Battee of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five Dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following negroes whenever they shall have severally served me the terms of years as is herein after specified to wit one negro man named Benjamin Brown aged twenty one years to serve until he shall have arrived to the age of twenty six years one negro man named Stephen Steuart aged twenty years to serve until he shall have arrived to the age of twenty six years one negro boy named Henry Rawlings aged eleven years to serve until he shall have arrived to the age of Twenty Six years one negro Girl named (Jenny) |
