277 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Ann H Plummer of anne arundel county in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five Dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named William Hicks being of the age of Twenty one years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named William Hicks I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors administrators or assigns forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Twenty Sixth day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Twenty four signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Ann H Plummer (seal) Gerrard R Hopkins Richard Hopkins At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five Dollars Current money it being the full Consideration money within mentioned Ann H Plummer (seal) Anne Arundel County to wit On this Twenty sixth day of March personally appears Ann H Plummer party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within mentioned to be henceforth manumitted and (discharged) |
