275 hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named John being of the age of forty two years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named John I do declare to be henceforth ^free^ from the date hereof manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord 1824 signed sealed and delivered in the presence of her Richard G Hutton Mary + Elson (seal) Henry C Drury of Chas mark On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus endorsed to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this 13th day of March 1824 personally appears Mary Elson party to the within instrument of writing before me subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be her act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or any claiming under her and to be free manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ex.d d.d Acknowledged before Richard G Hutton paid 2½ Recorded the 26th day of March 1824 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Mary Elson of anne arundle County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery manumit and set free my two negro women (on) |
