218 hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my mulatto woman named Rebecca being of the age of twenty four years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and she the said mulatto woman named Rebecca I do declare to be hencefourth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Edward Warfield Robert Warfield Ju.r (seal) Polly Warfield on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of one Dollar Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Witness Edward Warfield Robert Warfield Ju.r (seal) Polly Warfield Anne Arundel County to wit: On this twenty seven day of October 1821 personally appears Robert Warfield Ju.r party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the mulatto woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before Edward Warfield 3¼ Recorded the 5th day of november 1821 |
