219 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I Ruth Davis of the City of annapolis in the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free at the periods herein after mentioned the following slaves whom I have sold to a certain Benjamin R Nicholson for a term of years to wit: a negro woman named Caty aged about twenty four years the said negro woman named Caty to be free on the Eleventh day of July Eighteen hundred and twenty seven and if the said negro woman named Caty should have any increase during the term she has to serve the aforesaid Benjamin R Nicholson then and in that case the male or males shall belong to and serve the said Benjamin R Nicholson until he or they shall arrive at the age of twenty one years at which period he or they are hereby declared to be liberated and set free and the female or females to belong to and serve the said Benjamin B Nicholson until she or they arrive at the age of Eighteen years when they are hereby declared to be liberated and set free and should the said female or females have nay increase during their term of servitude as aforesaid the said increase shall and are hereby declared to be liberated and free when the mothers term of servitude expires to wit when the mother arrives at the age of Eighteen years as aforesaid, also a negro boy named Henry the son of the aforesaid negro woman named (Caty) |
