214 and by these presents do release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the aforesaid slave Eliza Ann aged as aforesaid and the aforesaid matthew aged as aforesaid from the time that they the said Eliza Ann and Matthew shall have respectively attained the age of seventeen years as aforesaid and them the said negro Children named Eliza Ann and matthew as aforesaid I do declare to be thenceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventh day of august in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Joshua Blacks Geo: Howard (seal) Nathan Shipley On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered That on this seventh day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one personally appears George Howard party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro Children therein named to be from the time specified in the same thenceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him (and) |
