209 To all whome it may Concern Be it known that I Cane Dorsey of ann arundle County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have release from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Ester being of the age of 45 years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelyhood and maintenance and she the said negroe woman Ester I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of august in the year of our Lord one thosan Eight hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of his Henry Cord Cane S Dorsey (seal) William Black mark on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: ann arundle County to wit: On this 3 day of august 1821 personally appeard Cane Dorsey party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purpose within mentioned and the negroe woman within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the (act) |
