207 do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my son Horace Bishop being about the age of thirteen years and him the said Horace Bishop I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Wm S Green William Bishop (seal) Richd J Cowman on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received the day and date above mentioned the sum of five shillings Current money being the Consideration money within mentioned Witness William Bishop Wm S Green Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on this twenty third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one personally appears William Bishop party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for the County aforesaid and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the within named Horace Bishop to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases Acknowledged before Gideon White 3 Recorded the 28th day of July 1821 |
