206 Eight hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us John S Selby George Wells (seal) Gideon White On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of one Dollar Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned George Wells (seal) Witness Gideon White Anne Arundel County sc Be it remembered That on this twenty fifth day of July 1821 personally appears George Wells party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Ch.d Acknowledged before Gideon White 3 Recorded the 25th day of July 1821 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I William Bishop of the City of annapolis in anne arundel County State of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of the sum of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery manumitted and set free and by these presents (do) |
