205 Anne Arundel County to wit: On the sixteenth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred & twenty one came the above named Samuel Chase before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid & acknowledged the within deed or instrument of writing to be his act & deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the said negro man George York within named to be thenceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him and to be free & manumitted according to the acts of assembly in such cases made & provided Ch.d Acknowledged before Gideon White Ex.d d.d 3¼ Recorded the 16.th day of July 1821 To all whom it may Concern Be it known That I George Wells of anne arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one Dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Jasper Jenkins being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Negro man named Jasper Jenkins I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand (Eight) |
