204 To all whom it may concern Be it known That I Samuel Chase of the City of annapolis late of the City of Baltimore in the State of maryland administrator of Samuel Chase late of Baltimore County deceased for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving as also for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar money of the United States to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted & set free & by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit & set free t he negro man named George York being under the age of forty five years to wit about forty three years of age and able to work and gain a sufficient livelyhood and maintenance and him the said negro man named George York I do hereby declare to henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this sixthteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Gideon White Sam.l Chase (seal) Geo: mcneir on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date of the within deed or instrument of writing of the within named George York the sum of one Dollar the same being the consideration mentioned therein Witness Gideon White Samuel Chase Geo: mcnier |
