201 negro Girl within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided paid Acknowledged before Robert Welch 3 Recorded the 16th day of June 1821 To all whom it may Concern Be it known that I James Williams for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and se free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Nance being between forty and forty five years of age and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Nance I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty third day of June Eighteen hundred and twenty one Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us Lewis Neth Jr James Williams (seal) Henry M Fleury On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: maryland anne arundel County to wit: Be it remembered That on this twenty (third) |
