189. gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Henry Hall I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever from and after the period herein after named to wit the said Henry Hall to be free after the fourteenth day of September 1822. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 19th day of march 1821 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of W.m S Green Wm Brewer (seal) F Harwood on the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five dollars current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Wm Brewer (seal) Anne Arundel County City of annapolis to wit: On this 19th day of march 1821 personally appears William Brewer party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the acts of assembly made and provided Acknowledged before Ch.d Jeremiah Townley Chase 3½ Recorded the 19th day of march 1821 |
