188 Maryland ann arundel County to wit: This Indenture made this fourteenth day of march eighteen hundred & twenty one Witnesseth that I Eleanor Shiply for the sum of one Cent the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have manumitted & set free and do by this instrument of writing manumit & set free the following negroes my negro woman named Jenny my negro man Davey & my negro boy Stephen all sound & Capable of labor their term of freedom to commence at my death & not before In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal her Test Arch Dorsey Eleanor X Shipley (seal) Mary Shipley mark At the foot of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Maryland ann arundel County to wit 1821 march 14 Then came Eleanor Shipley before me and acknowledged the above deed of manumission to be her proper act & deed Ex.d d.d Archibald Dorsey Chd 1½ Recorded the 15th day of march 1821 State of maryland City of annapolis To all whom it may concern Be it known That I William Brewer of the City of annapolis aforesaid for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro man named Henry Hall being of the age of thirty nine years and able to work and (gain) |
