190 Maryland ss.s To all whom it may concern Be it known That I Thomas Whittington of anne arundel County in the State of maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of one Dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free at the respective periods hereinafter mentioned the following negroes to wit Henry aged five years to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty one and ann maria aged four years to be free on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two and all the increase of the above named ann maria to be free at the age of twenty five years and I do release the aforegoing negroes to wit Henry and ann maria with her increase to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors and administrators at the times hereinbefore mentioned according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty one Sign'd Seal'd and delivered in the presence of Richard Ireland Thos Whittington (seal) Wm Butler On the back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit (Received) |
