17 hundred and seventeen personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid Henry Duvall party Grantor in the within instrument of writing named and acknowledged the said instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the form effect and true meaning of the same and the acts of assembly in such case made and provided Taken before Horatio Ridout Received from Henry Duvall the sum of five dollars Current money of the United States it being in full payment and consideration for every right title claim interest or demand in to or for a negro woman named milly heretofore conveyed mentioned so to be to a certain Rachel Gordon who is since deceased and for myself my heirs Executors & administrators do hereby exonerate and acquit all claim that I may or might in any way have or be entitled to in any manner whatever and the said Negro milly so far as I have title or claim as hereby fully delivered to the said Henry Duvall for the consideration above named Witness my hand and seal this tenth day of December 1816 Witness Robert Yealdall (seal) Samuel Iglehart chd Ex.d d.d 4¼ Recorded this 14th day of January 1817 To all whom it may concern Be it known that I John Thompson of the City of Annapolis and State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of five shillings Current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery my negro boy named Tom Davis being about the age of twenty years and able to get his living have liberated manumitted (and) |
