16 Know all men by these presents that I Henry Duvall of anne arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted liberated and set free and by these presents do manumit liberate and set free from slavery a certain female negro slave named milly together with all and every Child issue or increase that she the said milly may hereafter have or bring forth and which said Milly is about nineteen or twenty years of age and who was formerly the property of a certain Rachel Gordon and from me descended to a certain Robert Yealdall from whom I purchased her as may more fully and at large appear by the instrument of writing hereunto annexed and to be recorded herewith And I do by these presents warrant and forever defend the liberty and freedom of said milly and her future issue or increase against all claims and demands in law or equity of myself my heirs Executors administrators and assigns and all and every person or persons claiming by from through or under myself and them or any of them. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this thirteenth day of January Anno Domini One thousand Eight hundred and seventeen Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Henry Duvall (seal) Horatio Ridout Grafton B Duvall On the back and annexed to the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: State of Maryland anne arundel County to wit Be it remembered that on this thirteenth day of January Anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred |
