167 release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negroe boy named Jem aged fifteen years; my negro boy named John aged Eleven years; my negro Girl named Jenny aged thirteen years; my negro Girl named mary aged nine years; my negro Girl named margret aged six years; each and every of them being able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and them the said Jem, John & Jenny mary & margret I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or administrators for ever from and after the period herein after named to wit the said Jem to be free after the 21.st day of June 1835; the said John to be free from and after the 21.st day of June 1839; The said Jenny to be free from and after the 21.st day of June 1835 the said mary to be free from and after the 21st day of June 1839 & the said margret to be free from and after the 21st day of June 1842. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21.st day of June 1820 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of R Welch of Ben Wm Brewer (seal) Horatio Gambrill On tyeh back of the aforegoing deed was thus written to wit: Received on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of One dollar Current money it being the full consideration money within mentioned Wm Brewer (seal) Witness R Welch of Ben Anne Arundel County City of annapolis to wit: On this 21.st day of June personally (appears) |
